Juan Pablo obtained a Law PhD, cum laude, from Barcelona University in 1997, after writing his doctoral thesis on the payment order procedure, which inspired the current regulations for this procedure in Spain and other Latin American countries such as Colombia.
During his extensive track record at prestigious law firms such as Garrigues, he was involved in resolving numerous disputes, actively defending the interests of companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, real estate, automobile and other sectors.
He is a senior lecturer at the Law School in Toulouse University (UT1 Capitole), a visiting lecturer at Paris-Dauphine University (France) and Full Professor at the Faculty of Law at the Barcelona University.
He has written numerous scholarly articles published both in Europe and Latin America, and regularly participates as a speaker at numerous conferences and projects financed by the European Union.
He also acts as an international arbitrator and mediator at prestigious institutions both in Spain and abroad such as the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC and the Court of Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, the London Court of International Arbitration and the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota.
He is also the International Delegate for the ICAB (Barcelona Bar) in Toulouse and a member of the Legal Advice Commission of Foment del Treball (the major Catalan employers' organisation).
On July 15, 2020, he was appointed Secretary General of the Principality of Andorra (TAPA) , constituted by mandate of the Andorran legislator, being the Andorran Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services and the Bar Association of that country its founding partners.
